Venator and REACH
Venator fully supports REACH and its objectives to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. We have our own in-house experts who are actively engaged in the European chemical industry’s journey to provide a single regulatory system. Our team helps to guide industry consortia, serve as a lead registrant for key substances and works closely with our own supply-chain partners to ensure that milestones are met.
Any queries about REACH should be directed to your commercial or technical representative who will endeavour to provide the information required or make contact with a relevant REACH expert.
REACH and Brexit
Following the referendum in the UK in June 2016, the UK government initiated the process to leave the EU (Brexit). Continued negotiations between the UK and EU resulted in an agreement between the UK and the EU Commission on December 30, 2020 known as the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and the REACH etc. (Amendment etc) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 (2020 No. 1577), which establishes the regime for chemical regulation in the UK (“UK REACH”) after Brexit.
To guarantee business continuity in GB and minimise the impact of introduction of UK REACH, various actions have been taken by Venator:
- Venator has transferred its existing EU REACH OR responsibilities away from UK legal entities
- Venator has transferred its EU REACH registration dossiers held by Venator UK legal entities to alternative EU 27/EEA based entities, before the end of the transition period
- Venator has assigned EU OR to support transactions of its UK manufactured products into EU27/EEA
- Venator is monitoring developments on the new UK REACH and participating in this regime.
- Venator has commenced with UFI and CLP Annex VIII notifications
- Venator products currently comply with the Reach requirements for importing in UK and in EU
We strongly recommend customers to identify the product registrations on which you currently rely upon, to help you assess the potential impact of product regulatory changes.
REACH and Customers
Venator only sells products that comply with applicable laws, including REACH. Venator has pre-registered and registered all substances that were due on the tonnage deadlines and continues to do so within the established REACH timeframes. In addition, Venator has set up in-house procedures and systems to ensure that purchased raw materials and any changes in suppliers, new product development, new substances and new uses of substances are all REACH compliant.
If you have any questions regarding how Venator is responding to any REACH or REACH-like regulations, please do not hesitate to contact your Venator representative.
REACH and Suppliers
Venator only purchases products that comply with all applicable laws, including REACH. In order for Venator to continue with, or commence purchasing from a supplier, that company must have registered all relevant substances included in products that they manufacture in, or import into, the EEA and UK that are later supplied to Venator. A corresponding confirmation is requested from all suppliers via a defined supplier questionnaire, which now also includes other emerging REACH-like regulations on a global basis.
If there is a dependency on raw materials or substances supplied by others, suppliers must ensure that their partners also comply with their REACH obligations.
