Venator is committed to high standards and remains committed to keeping the local community informed. We will meet or exceed every state and federal regulation.

Venator has withdrawn the current application for a Special Use Permit but with plans to resubmit. Withdrawal allows additional time for community engagement and to align with the schedule to prepare the proposed location on the property.

Community Engagement/Input

We are making good faith efforts to meet with Harrisburg leaders, so they have a complete understanding of the facts and understand the safety of these facilities. 

We will also work in good faith to listen to citizens’ concerns and to inform them that these are nonhazardous materials that already are present on the site. The proposal is to move existing sediment to a custom built lined containment facility on the Venator property. The design and specifications for the new containment facility were recommended by a leading environmental engineering firm after considering many options. This project has their full endorsement.
