Venator and REACH

Venator fully supports REACH and its objectives to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. We have our own in-house experts who are actively engaged in the European chemical industry’s journey to provide a single regulatory system. Our team helps to guide industry consortia, serve as a lead registrant for key substances and works closely with our own supply-chain partner to ensure that milestones are met.

Any queries about REACH should be directed to your commercial or technical representative who will endeavor to provide the information required or make contact with a relevant REACH expert.

REACH and Customers

Venator only sells products that comply with applicable laws, including REACH. Venator has pre-registered all of the phase-in substances that it manufactures in, or imports into, the European Economic Area (EEA) that are subject to Title II of the REACH Regulation. Venator has also registered all substances that were due for registration in 2010, 2013 and continues to register substances within the REACH timeframe. In addition, Venator has set up in-house procedures and systems to ensure that purchased raw materials and any changes in suppliers, new product development, new substances and new uses of substances are all REACH compliant.

REACH has additional requirements on communication in the supply chain. These include a new Safety Data Sheet (SDS) format and new information obligations on products and/or articles containing more than 0,1% Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Furthermore, there may be an indirect impact if customer(s) / importer(s) within the EEA have registration and other obligations as an importer.

Venator customers have access to our REACH web portal. To assist with managing REACH compliance, Venator may from time-to-time ask questions via this dedicated, secure, online resource.

Venator customers located outside the EEA have no direct REACH obligations, but should note that exports may be affected if the business, or its customers, export to any of the European Union (EU) Member States plus Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway, which together form the EEA. Products supplied by Venator from within the EEA to customers located outside the EEA are REACH compliant.

REACH and Suppliers

Venator only purchases products that comply with all applicable laws, including REACH. In order for Venator to continue with, or commence purchasing from a supplier, that company must have pre-registered all relevant substances included in products that they manufacture in, or import into, the EEA that are later supplied to Venator. A corresponding confirmation is requested from all suppliers via a defined supplier questionnaire.

If there is a dependency on raw materials or substances supplied by others, suppliers must ensure that their partners also comply with their REACH obligations.

The Portal is the principal means of communication with customers and suppliers. All REACH-related exchanges of information and data, as well as news dissemination happens through this channel. Access is secure and restricted to Venator customers and suppliers located in the EEA and Switzerland.

In the portal, customers can see product-specific, REACH-related information including:

  • Supported End Uses
